President's address
Nurse Practitioners of New Brunswick (NPNB) is a non-profit organization representing New Brunswick NPs and a member of Nurse Practitioners Association of Canada (NPAC).
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advance practice nurse who has completed a minimum of two years registered nursing experience followed by a master’s level university degree in conjunction with an additional 700 clinical hours in primary health care. The NP obtains advanced knowledge and the clinical expertise to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage disease or illness and provide screening modalities for optimal patient health and wellness.
NPs prescribe medications, order/interpret laboratory/diagnostic tests, and refer to specialists when needed. NPs do not work under the direction of a physician but work in collaboration with physicians, specialists and other allied healthcare professionals. NPs provide comprehensive clinical care that blends the practice of medicine with the practice of nursing.
NPNB is a representative voice for New Brunswick Nurse Practitioners.
Our motto: Policy, Politics, Professional and Patient Advocacy
The Mandate of NPNB is to:
